The scamming is absurd. Buying plex for 350mil, only to find out you'll also give a plex along with 350 mil... or buying 2plex for 1.2b only to find out he'll only pay1.2m
wtf?
I'm all into the player-run thing but i think this is over the top. I've read many scams in the past.. like ponzi schemes turned bad or corporation thievery. Those are classy. It takes effort.
But this? Pure absurd. There's no merit in this. People are deliberatly, in-your-face, taking advantage of a game mechanic in order to trick you into basically giving away your wealth, and more.
I'm all for regulating this type of activity. Just as you get flagged for killing people on secure areas, so should this behavior be criminalized. How to punish them? well.. just out of my head
Once a player gets flagged for promoting scams he should be flagged, and all his transactions would require manual verification. That should teach the pricks.
It is not taking advantage of game mechanics but of stupid , let me use your words, pricks. Why so serious? Bought a DCII for 800 Mil? Yarrrr! |

You are welcome "new players" is not a synonym for "idiots" hope this helps
A fool is not the same as an idiot. I would not call new players idiots. |

What are the tools available to effectively pvp against permadocked, throwaway scamming spambot alts?
Oh you just said the magic words... "a game that sports fun gameplay, and is not an exercise in paranoia." If they want to do this they are obviously wrong here and should play one of the dozens of boring games that support this kind of gameplay. |

There are no other sci-fi sandboxes available as of now, and I'm sure the potential customers for a fun sci-fi sandbox that is not an exercise in paranoia far outnumber the people subscribed now to EvE. But a middle ground is very reachable: by correcting things that make no sense, above all, the unaccountability of characters relative to accounts, and the unaccountability of accounts themselves relative to IP addresses, you could still have the cold harsh universe and a way to effectively retaliate against people you want to hurt ingame. Hell, it'd even be colder and harsher! Which present subscriber doesn't want that? And as of now, what ways do I have, should I want to become a vigilante and harass the ingame assets of people using permadocked throwaway alts to spam scams in local?
Another Control Freak. IP addresses you say, surveillance I say. Not everybody lives in a country where they love it to be digitally controlled and monitored all the time...
